Enhancing Basic Business Knowledge
The largest health care provider in the state created a detailed development, implementation and communication plan for a business knowledge learning system, with the mission to educate employees on the language and business of the company - and the health care industry as a whole - to help maximize employee capability and develop a strong line of sight between each employees job and overall company objectives.
The learning system included several elements to organize and communicate information, including wiki pages, e-self studies, webinars, and podcasts.
The company chose SDI Consulting to partner on the design and development of the e-self studies. The team started by working with leadership to determine the key questions employees were asking - or were being asked - related to the company and the health care industry. From these questions, eight primary topics were selected.
SDI researched, designed, and developed e-self studies for each primary topic, with the intent of being meaningful, motivational, and memorable to users. Thus, each includes interactive story elements designed to present basic information in a more engaging manner and to answer common questions from the employee’s point of view.
Early returns for the business knowledge system are good. Since launch, over 70% of the company’s employees have accessed the system, with overwhelming positive feedback provided back to the team.
