Shawn Merritt is a founding member and the managing partner of SDI Consulting, LLC, with offices in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Dallas, Texas. SDI provides customized organizational performance solutions to fortune 1000 companies, as well as business management and business development consulting to entrepreneurial organizations.

Shawn has designed, developed, and implemented custom training and performance solutions for over 50 companies, including all of the big three automobile manufactures and many of their tier 1 suppliers, as well as Steelcase, Gordon Food Service, Alticor, Siemens Dematic, among others.

Areas of focus most recently have been in the areas of corporate and entrepreneurial leadership, business development, and innovation. He has worked with clients to reengineer their sales processes and functions, launch products and services, and create and implement business-linked leadership development programs.

He has architected frameworks such as The Instructional Spine, the Performance Framework, The Delivery Method Decision Matrix, The Use of Time Index, and the Insight Selling Funnel.

When Shawn is not developing frameworks, he likes to speak at engagements across different venues. He has spoken at TSTD, ASTD, Chief Learning Officer Conference, Center for Community Leadership’s Leadership Advantage program, and the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Series program, among others.

Shawn received a BA in German language and literature and minor in mathematics from Michigan State University in 1985. He received his Master’s Degree in Educational Systems and Organizational Behavior from MSU in 1991.

He taught University Entrance math, physics, and 8th grade English in the Fiji Islands as a Peace Corps Volunteer.
