Unfortunately, we all know what bad design looks like. Whether it’s a painfully boring webpage or an app update that changes the entire experience, these sorts of situations make it painfully obvious that the user isn’t always taken into account.
Good design, on the other hand, is a little bit harder to pinpoint.
Deiter Rams, the mastermind behind the Ten Principles for Good Design once said, “My heart belongs to the details… Nothing works without details. They are everything, the baseline of quality.”
We agree. When it comes to creating well-designed training experiences, we kind of nerd out over the details. Below are a few of Deiter’s principles that we follow to make our design the best it can be!
Good design is innovative
Dull eLearning courses cannot capture the attention of today’s modern learner. In order to keep users engaged and interested, we create highly interactive learning experiences in standard authoring tools like Captivate, Storyline, etc… as well as HTML! This allows us to create more in-depth interactions that increase the sense of achievement felt by users. Innovation also means advancing with the times, which is why we make our experiences accessible at any time from any device.
Good design makes a product useful
The ability to recall specific training experiences greatly influences the user’s ability to learn information. This is why we take great care in designing training experiences to maximize retention. With the use of stories and interactions that complement the written content, our training captures user attention with scenario-based learning.
Good design is thorough down to the last detail
Every group of learners has varying preferences and learning styles. This is why we take time to learn about the people and the culture of an organization before we build customized training to meet their unique needs. Since user-experience is our number one priority, we also like to add fun things like micro-animations to keep things interesting!
Good design is as little design as possible
When it comes to training, we like to give clients what they need without the added fluff. With clean and sleek designs, information becomes easy to digest and remember. Oh yeah, and it looks pretty cool too.
While it may take more time and effort to get to know our learners and design specifically to their needs, we know how much of a difference it makes in engagement and retention. This is why we put our hearts and minds into creating transformational learning experiences for all sorts of organizations and people. If the training in your organization isn’t driving the change you’d like, let us know, we care about the details.
